Makassar Golf Club is the leading 6,561-yard course in South Sulawesi. The first nine holes of this public course run in a clockwise direction and the remaining 9 holes run the opposite direction. All fairways are meticulously lined with shady trees. On the 4th and 5th, ponds are placed obstructively on the fairways. Avoid top balls and hook strokes when playing on this course. The greens are generally wide and tilt at different slopes.
The 333-meter 16th hole is particularly tricky. It has a pond lined with big trees midway between the tee-box and the green, which is built like an isle surrounded by three bunkers. The best time to play here is between December and August.
Accommodations available in nearby Ujung Pandang include Makassar Golden Hotel and Makassar City Hotel. Tourist attractions in the area feature, among others, the scenic Batumurung waterfall, 36 kilometers from Ujung Pandang. The waterfall, famous for its butterflies, is located inside the vast Batumurung Nature Reserve where rare animal and plant species are protected.
Makassar Golf Club lies at the junction between Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan and Mandai Toll Road . It is 15 kilometers from Ujung Pandang and 8 kilometers from the local Hasanuddin Airport.
