Ulu Gadut golf course is the only golf course in the city of Padang. Built in 1976, it is the oldest golf course in West Sumatra that resides in the majestic hills of Ulu Gadut with total 18 holes and 71 pars. Like any other old school golf course in Indonesia, Ulu Gadut golf course offers tree-line fairways.

If you want to taste something old in Padang, you can try Ulu Gadut golf, because the golf course has not change significantly since 30 years, it is show by the grass that using traditional cow grasses. 

To get in here, you just need to drive about 10 kilometers outside Padang on the Road to Solok in the village of Indarung.

Lagan Hill Golf Club is a championship golf course in North Sumatera. Opened in 1972, this 18-hole golf course, located at an elevation of 30 meters above sea level, is hilly with many blind holes (the 3rd, the 6th, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th).

The 2nd, a par 5, requires caution because within the driving distance of about 250 meters there is a pond located on a downward slope. Bunkers behind and in front of the green are potential hazards. On the 3rd, a par 4, a pond and a stream stretch parallel to the fairway, just after the tee-box. In front of the green there are a bunker and an apron which can restrain the balls speed, while behind it there is a rather deep valley.



The 6th, a par 4, doglegs to the left, making the green invisible at tee-box. On the right of the green there is a forest with a valley which can be a nuisance.

The 8th, a par 3, is far down. The green is sustantially hard to become a potential problem. On the right of the 9th, a par 4, requires a strong hit to get two ons.



On the 13th, a par 5, the tee-boxs direction can frame the golfer with a long distance. On the 15th, a par 4, a strong and accurate hit is needed, for the green is surrounded by a pond. 

The 18th, a par 4, is not too far, but the fairway doglegs right making the green invisible. In front of the tee-box is a valley, while to theright is a forest.



Nearby accommodation is available at Pertamina Guest House. Tourist spots within reach include Taman Suaka Gunung Leuser (140 kilometers), Brastagi (140 kilometers), and Lake Toba, Prapat, (250 kilometers).


Lagan Hill Golf Course is located about 82 kilometers from Medan city center.

Prabumulih Golf Club offers a private 18-hole, par 72 of 3,102-yard golf course. The course is dedicated to Pertamina Unit IIs employees.

Since Prabumulih is an important pineapple-growing area in South Sumatera, the course lies uniquely amidst the vast plantations. Golfers can take time off to sidetrack into these plantations and taste the fresh pineapples right from the hands of the growers themselves.

For golfers who like to stay on longer to enjoy the local natural tourist destinations, the nearby Lake Ranau is worth visiting.

Deli Golf Club offers a championship 18-hole golf course that boasts an area of 6,419 meters. The natural golf course, situated at 30 meters above sea level, is designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. of  USA.



Opened in 1969, the member-only golf course is guaranteed to create an obssesion in any passionate golfer for the course is a truly challenging one. On some holes there are obstructive rice fields and ponds to discourage even the keenest player.



There are some old rubber trees among the sweet-smelling pines lining the course. And the course maintenance is suprisingly up to the most strict standards inspite of the lack of golfers on weekdays.



The immaculately designed wide greens are rolling, so calculations about breaks are needed. Both national and international golfers are often overwhelmed during putting.
